FOR RESIDENTS IN JAPAN
Ballroom Dance in Tokyo,
with English-Speaking Instructors
Living in Japan and curious about ballroom dance, but worried about the language? At DANCE GRAND you don't need to speak Japanese. Our English-speaking instructors teach one-to-one, and over 90% of our members started with no experience at all.
You don't need Japanese
We have several English-speaking instructors and staff. From your first enquiry to your trial and beyond, you can communicate in English. Many of our students are residents in Japan who wanted a place where the language barrier is not a problem.
Built for absolute beginners
Our method is supervised by a former all-Japan champion and designed so that beginners can dance from day one. In your first 25-minute lesson, you will dance to music. One-to-one lessons mean you move at your own pace, with no need to keep up with a group.
Locations & access
Harajuku (7 min from Harajuku station), Mitaka (30 sec from JR Mitaka station north exit), and Shinkoiwa (1 min from JR Shinkoiwa station north exit, opening 1 October 2026). All studios are easy to reach across central and eastern Tokyo.
What a free trial is like
Come empty-handed — shoes and wear are free to borrow. After a short chat about what you want, an English-speaking instructor guides you step by step, and you dance one song by the end. There is no pushy sales, and you are free to think it over.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to speak Japanese?
No. We have English-speaking instructors, so you can take a trial and enjoy lessons even if your Japanese is limited.

Absolutely. Over 90% of our members start with no experience at all, and 93% are still dancing a year later.
Do I need a partner?
No. Our lessons are one-to-one, and the instructor is your partner. Most people who come for a trial come on their own.
